Santa Maria del Giogo
The sanctuary of Santa Maria del Giogo is located at a height of 968 m; from here you can enjoy an enchanting panoramic view of the Sebino and Val Trompia and on clear days, up to Monte Rosa.
The sanctuary is located on the ancient road that connected the Sebino basin to Val Trompia and Brescia, a centuries-old pass where the borders of the municipalities of Sulzano, Polaveno and Gardone Val Trompia cross.
Next to the church is the refuge where the Benedictines of S. Eufemia hosted the wayfarers who, along the ancient Roman road of the lake, were headed to Brescia and towards Val Trompia. The refuge is currently managed by the Polaveno Alpine Group.
